The Wahying Story
Be be honest, we really don’t do anything especially clever or innovative. All we do is just plain, simple steps that actually make a difference. Something that is all too often lacking from ‘professionals’. That is the Wahying Story!
Amy Zhou
WahyingTM FOUNDER
The Wahying Story begins with Amy! Born in Shandong during the Cultural Revolution, Amy graduated as a Registered Nurse in Jinan, China. Furthering her education by studying English at university, Amy decided in 2001 to consolidate her language skills by spending a year in NZ. Then residency and citizenship (finally!). The seeds of the idea behind Wahying were born when Amy returned to China as a language ambassador for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Great ideas take time! And a year spent as a tourist guide in NZ for a Chinese company opened Amy’s eyes to just what a poor experience many Chinese tourists to NZ endure. With the rapid growth of independent Chinese tourism, the time for a Chinese language link between Chinese tourists and Kiwi tourism providers is now!
Our People
The Wahying Story can only ever be as good as the people who build it. And our builders are exceptional!
Zowie
English-Chinese Translator
A Chinese registered nurse by profession, Zowie retrained in China and gained a Masters degree in Interpretation and Translation. She also obtained the prestigious CATTI certification. Zowie has consolidated this by living in NZ since 2013.
Oscar
Content writer and marketing
A chartered accountant by profession, Oscar forms the essential link between what the client wants and what the end-user (the Chinese language tourist) needs. This involves web design, maintenance and configuring, editing and posting the web and social media content.
Ling-ling
Chinese social media specialist
Expert on Weixin, Sina Weibo, Youku and a host of other apps that form the structure of online media in China. These platorms are heavily restricted, and only those with Chinese citizenship and a Chinese bank account are able to post or set up full accounts. Ling-ling is also highly experienced at marketing within China using Weixin.
Pete
Web content, marketing and admin.
Every project needs an anchor, and for Wahying that means Pete. Web page and social media posting along with the paperwork behind the scenes keeps Pete busy. His first hand experience of living in China has given him at least an understanding of how things work and just how the Chinese consumer expects things to be.
Would you like to join us at Wahying?
The Wahying Story is that of a new, growing and independent business offering a unique service to a clearly defined and often difficult to reach market sector. And that market sector is forecast to grow exponentially over the next few years.
To grow, we need help! Specifically, we need agents in each area on NZ that can present our service in a win-win for all parties concerned.
